This proposal will evaluate the use of polycatechol styrene (PCS), a proprietary synthetic polymer, to strengthen the interface of epoxy-glass interfaces. The investigation is highly experimental in nature and will focus on measuring the adhesive strength of glass-epoxy interfaces using an interfacial fracture mechanics approach. The locus of failure will be determined using various spectroscopy and microscopy techniques.
